CURICAL STEP SETUP PORTS TO USE HOOBS AND PIHOLE ON SAME PI
HOOBS default ports are 80 and 8080, so we have to change the port of Pi-Hole Web Console
Backup of the pi-hole lighttpd config file
sudo cp /etc/lighttpd/lighttpd.conf /etc/lighttpd/lighttpd.conf.backup
Replace the default port 80
sudo nano lighttpd.conf
Edit the file and change the port 80 to anything you like (ie. 81)
Change this to anything you like –> server.port = 80 >>> change to 81 or anything else
Finally restart the lighttpd daemon.
sudo /etc/init.d/lighttpd restart
Connect to the pi-hole’s web admin in your browser using your newly updated port.
Pi-hole Web Console
Status should be “Active” on Pi-hole web console. Left top shows Offline
In case it shows Offline or Unknown, Enable DNS from the left panel.
Setup your Routers’ DNS address to point to Raspberry’s IP, only this IP, nothing else. You are good to go !
You should be able to see Queries and Blocked Queries rising.
For better results, enable DHCP on RaspberryPi and of course disable it on the Router. This way EVERYTHING passes through Pi-Hole. Renew your DHCP Lease on your PC/Phones and you are ready to go !
Happy Blocking !
